Henry Ford is credited for being the first successful person to perfect the assembly line which helped produce cars at a more rapid pace and cheaper cost. The assembly line divided operations into simple tasks and cut unnecessary motion into a minimum. This cut the time of making a car from 12 hours to only 93 minutes. Mass production was made possible by large machinery increased supply and reduced cost. The Model-T (type of car) was selling for 850 dollars the first year Henry Ford started making and selling cars.
850 dollars was a large amount of money in the 1920's, so only wealthier people could afford a car. In 1926 Henry Ford introduced mass production making the cost of the Model-T less costly at 490 dollars, making this type of cars and many others more affordable to middle class. The people who worked from Henry Ford at his factories had their work shift hours cut from 12 hours to 8 hours and their workweek cut from six days a week to five due to mass production. Workers got paid more money for doing less work so they started to live a better life style.
