On 1929 what every U.S citizen feared would happened, occurred, there was a sudden economic collapse. Even though the early 1920's was very prosperous there was already hidden factors and speculations that showed the collapse coming. There was risky lending policies, over production and uneven income income distribution. The stock market was very effected by the depression because all there was, was great success that came from investing money into a stock. The long period of the rising of stocks was named the "bull market." Everyone was witnessing how much profit was being made from investing in a stock and it seemed as everyone has invested. As the Great Depression suddenly surprised every stock holder, they very quickly went and gathered their money back, thus making the a more black hole in the economy.

The Great Plains of the U.S in the 1930's were struck by a fierce dust storm that made many Americans that were living among plains to flee. The stormed caused a great amount of damage and lasted for several years. The Great Depression had also increased the amount of poverty in The United States. Many people without jobs were going hungry which led them to attend soup kitchens. Through out the nations many homeless people were putting up shacks on unused land. All over the nation there were more communities of poor people living together forming what they called "Hoovervilles".
